What is it
with dads that make
them hate their sons
so bad it makes
them chase vapors
of ghosts the sweet
elusive sons
reduced to
vehicles of
salvation lets
get didactic
to Isaac
to David
dancing through
the kingdom
all his heart
could not save him
even the
had a father
to forsake him.

Her body circles my mind
like a shark
like the stars

Swirl around
the galaxies

/round a drain

Scar my self
for f
to keep her

Pick her up
carry the pain
buried inside

But we know

Never will

Things be the same

Between us

Let breathe
let try
let be
let die

Let leave
if there
 do return
still care
will burn

 /lot more to poetry
than mere words;
no matter how
the verse
can/t be real
if truth
doesn/t hurt

As his nights slowly
     become her days

& the tether between
     snaps & fades

She made him as sharp
     as dull razor blades

We say we will
     but we’ll never change

He sits at the bottom
    of the shower

Minute after minute
     hour after hour

& though it helps
    with the aches

Her scent it won’t
     wash away

Genuflects & supplicates
     he tries to pray

But the Christ
     don’t want him anyway

So he twists
     as he breaks

Into shapes
      he couldn’t possibly make
